BMO Capital Markets Interview Experiences

Know your sector going in, they asked about a recent deal in the mining space. Two rounds on Teams, first mostly behavioral (why IB, why BMO, teamwork stuff), second was technical with a VP who covered valuation multiples and how you'd think about synergies in an acquisition. Process opened 14 months before start date which felt strange but that's their cycle.

There was not really a technical portion of the interview even though it did require SQL knowledge. Main focus was talking about previous experiences analyzing data and translating it into key ideas/telling a story. Some behavioural questions that asked about previous leadership and conflict management experiences.

Superday yesterday. Two behavioral and one technical, had to pitch a Canadian stock. Waiting on decision fingers crossed

Screening then one interview with a manager, very behavioral. Why BMO, tell me about a time you analyzed data under pressure, how do you stay current on markets. No modeling questions at all. Heard back in about a week saying they went with someone else. Wish they'd done something technical so I had a chance to show what I knew.
