Scotiabank Interview Experiences

30 min with a VP and associate, brought up recent Scotiabank news and I mentioned their expansion into US wealth management then behavioral about working under pressure.

One way virtual interview then live with HR and two managers STAR behavioral and learning something new and situational scenarios plus questions about Scotiabank's core values.

Manager interview was mostly scenario based behavioural stuff and projects. easy dubs.

Four rounds felt like a lot, phone screen then behavioral then technical with senior analyst, SQL and gap analysis questions, then final with a VP that was mostly about why Scotiabank and if I understood their values.

Panel with two members of the cyber security team. Questions on vulnerability management and a hypothetical about responding to a phishing campaign. Also behavioral covering communicating security risk to non technical stakeholders.

SQL and Python technical round. Made it to finals then didn't make it through with zero feedback.

PLUM test then hireVue. Technical on capitalizing vs expensing. Final panel grilled me on mining sector deals

Phone screen then coffee chat with other candidates then panel interview then superday. The coffee chat is supposed to be casual but you can tell they're evaluating you the whole time. Panel was 2 on 1 and got into technical stuff right away, EPS calculation and accretion/dilution. Superday with MDs was intense lots of mental math and they wanted my views on where energy markets are heading. Studied LBOs hard and it paid off because they had me walk through one.

First HR meeting was basic and straightforward. The next step involved a case-style discussion around branch operations and problem-solving. The final interview was with managers from the retail banking team. 7/10 difficulty. Fast thinking, past experiences in school, and finance knowledge is imperative.

Quick screen was quick then had this panel format interview with managers where they drilled on SQL and Python. Handling large datasets came up and the behavioral round after was fine but the technical round seems to be the one that matters most.

The coffee chat was lowkey an assessment, heads up. One interview after that covering my background, global markets knowledge and some commodity price questions. About 2.5 weeks total.

Plum test online then one round with hiring manager asked about situations where some KPI dropped 15% and how you would go about finding out why then super easy SQL to filter out the business kids.

first round interview is a group interview with other candidates and a campus recruiter. Next round is with the managers of the team you are going to be placed in.

It was a very easy process. All behavioural questions, only one round and a virtual interview. The interviewer was very conversational and made it a less stressful environment right away. Heard back fairly quickly
