Telus Interview Experiences

Aptitude test and pair coding with SQL window functions then a general fit interview then final rounds about how your work impacts customer experience. The fit interview was a unique round where they really wanted to understand your background and motivations.

They really care about problem framing over getting to the perfect answer. PM interview was with one product manager and one engineering manager. Product sense question about how you'd improve a specific feature in the Telus MyAccount app, then metrics for defining success on a new feature rollout where they asked for both engagement and business metrics. Also a behavioral about navigating a disagreement between product and engineering where priorities differed. The engineering manager barely spoke during my product sense but asked pointed questions during the metrics part.

Two separate teams interviewed me back to back, one on threat modeling and zero trust and one on behavioral questions about incident response. OA before that had networking security MCQs and a short scripting exercise. Applied 3 weeks ago, still waiting.

Quick call on CoderPad 2 problems in 35 min. onsite had 2 more coding rounds plus behavioral. One coding round was their new AI-assisted format with a chat sidebar and multiple files, very different from a normal interview but still didn't pass.

Two interviewers who were both in the leadership development program, questions about IPv4 vs IPv6 and then a bunch of stuff about how I'd handle disagreements with a supervisor. It was pretty conversational, like 50 minutes but it went by fast

Deeper than expected for a co-op. They walk you through their actual stack during the interview. GCP and containerization questions, also service mesh architecture. Had a coding component in the screen before the round with two engineers.

Phone interview with a passcode, weird format. Behavioral and stakeholder situational questions. Got it!

1 on 1 with the manager and a seior developer. Background check followed after. Nothing unusual, they wanted to hear about a project I built end to end and some behavioral questions about how I learn new technologies. Background check took 2 more weeks after the offer before I could start.
