Data Analyst Interview Experiences

Pre-recorded video 4 questions 2 min each then Zoom call with STAR method. HackerRank in Python was only 15 minutes. OOP concepts and explaining something technical to a teammate came up.

SQL assessment was four questions, doable if you know window functions and CTEs. Power Day had two consecutive behavioral inetrviews about identifying unseen problems and explaining technical findings simply. Offer next morning.

OA had two coding problems and the work simulation where you pick answers about leadership principles. Final round was brutal because the behavioral half they kept digging deeper on every answer like tell me more about that and what did you specifically do and I ran out of things to say. Coding was graph BFS which I got but apparently wasn't enough.

SQL assessment first then Power Day with 2 case interviews a behavioral and a data challenge, cases were hard but manageable. Ended up declining for a better offer but would recommend applying, process is tough but fair.

Recruiter screen was laid back then two 45 min coding rounds same day, first was a sliding window problem that I'd done a variation of before so it went smoothly. second was graph BFS which took me longer but I got it working, I made sure to talk through my approach the whole time which the interviewers seemed to really appreciate.

Zoom technical covering Python data manipulation and SQL on market data. In house round after had questions on distributed systems, not expected for a data focused role.

First round was SQL with a window function question on ranked sales data. Second was a case on measuring sales rep performance from a CRM dataset.

Pre recorded video then phone call with HR then 30 min with the manager. Manager got into how I've used data to drive decisions and about my side projects. I showed a Kaggle project I did and they seemed impressed. Easy process overall and they got back to me in two weeks.

All 3 interviews same day, HR first then behavioral with 2 managers then technical with 2 developers who had me write code on the spot 2 or 3 questions and they went through every project on my resume during manager round.

Pretty sure someone internal had a referral because they moved fast. Quick HR call then in office interview, mostly about past data work and why insurance. Some SQL conceptual questions and what tools I'd use to visualize claims data. Very casual process.

Heard nothing for 3 weeks after the take home and had to follow up to find out I didn't move on. HR screening first, then an interview with the team that was heavy behavioral. Talked about how I handle ambiguity and working without much guidance. Then they gave me the take home assignment.

Seemed like they wantedr someone comfortable with both SQL and Python. Video interview first, 3 questions. Then a phone interview and eventually a virtual panel. Why Bell and what data anaalytics experience I had. Background in marketing analytics from a class project came up a lot.

Fast process like 10 days total. nothing more to say except know about the company and their values

They asked me to walk through how I'd clean a dataset with missing values and outliers. Phone screen last week and video call with the team yesterday. Python questions and also why Desjardins over other financial institutions.

Waited months then got an interview invite in January for a position I applied to in September. 30 min behavioral interview on Zoom with two people, wanted to know what I know about the CRA and describe a time I analyzed a large dataset and also a 10 min written exercise after

Supervisor covered my projects and SQL experience on the phone then managers asked OOP questions and about Java which I know well. And wanted to know about teamwork behavioral stuff, relaxed.

Just had the interview yesterday. Phone screen was quick 15 min then technical round with questions about SQL and what software I've used before and to describe a project. Behavioral with my interviewer was about handling difficult situations and what motivates me and I had to describe myself in three words which I always find awkward. Fingers crossed.

Interview with manager and team and they care a lot about Oracle's culture and values so know them before you go in, and wanted to know about tight deadline experience and why this position.

Group interview format with like 20 candidates and they picked 6 to move on. They had us do a group discussion about a market scenario, it lasted maybe 2 hours.

Think the offer went to an internal referral honestly. Hackerrank with data focused questions, then a technical interview covering networking troubleshooting concepts and design thinking questions about structuring a dataset. Went fine but they moved fast.

5 questions on a HireVue with a lot of safety related behavioral questions even for a data role then a panel on Teams with 3 people asking STAR stuff and basic Python and SQL questions, make sure you know Enbridge's core values because they ask about them

Online application took a while to process. Virtual panel with two managers about working with messy data, how I'd approach a dataset I've never seen and communicating findings to council. About two months end to end

SQL and Python technical round. Made it to finals then didn't make it through with zero feedback.

HackerRank SQL and easyish to medium coding then behavioral about communicating data findings to non-technical people and quick chat with senior manager at the end

Interview with two people from the analytics team after a quick HR call. SQL on aggregatng sales across regions, brief case on return rate trends and Tableau experience. Very retail focused but easy.

Interviewed in August of 2025, the same month I was graduating. 1 round, interview with head of Project Management Center and head of Project Management Reporting. Just asked about previous work experience, coding experience, etc. Very easy overall.

Virtual one-way interview, then recruiter screen followed by interview with manager. Recruiter screen was straightforward asking questions about fit and the company. Hiring manager asked about interest in role, described responsibilities and asked if I had similar experience

One HR interview asked me to introduce myself and walk her through my resume then another 30 min interview with manager we talked about the team and role mainly why I'd be interested etc.

45 min on Zoom with two people, half was about previous experience and half was conceptual like had me walk through how I'd predict future temperatures for a city and what coding language I'd use, very relaxed nice people and not super technical.

Quick screen was quick then had this panel format interview with managers where they drilled on SQL and Python. Handling large datasets came up and the behavioral round after was fine but the technical round seems to be the one that matters most.

Sustainability and safety came up, part of CN's brand. Behavioral and role specific questions about working under pressure and balancing multiple priorities. Hired hundreds of students annually so the competition exists but it's not brutal.

AI chatbot did the initial screening before I talked to anyone human. Then a virtual interview about handling challenges and taking responsibility for mistakes. fairly generic, nothing data specific came up at all.

Team interview was mostly behavioral. They asked about a project I was confident in and my least favourite school subject, caught me off guard. Applied through co-op portal. Three weeks.

First interview was a behavioral interview, asking questions about resume experience, why I want to work at RBC, and some basic situational questions. The second, and final round was a simple Excel technical assessment, testing concepts of data analytics related to a sample dataset provided.

first round interview is a group interview with other candidates and a campus recruiter. Next round is with the managers of the team you are going to be placed in.

Only one interview, questions about Power BI and Excel nothing difficult. The interviewer was friendly we talked about hobbies and personal interests near the end also

My first university interview applied online and they scheduled it for 45 mins. Not technical as I thought they talked about who I would be working with then question me about some tools like PowerBI and microsoft excel formulas like sumif and xlookup.

Basically just walk through everything on my resume and asking in depth which tech I used and how I used it.

First Interview: HR Second Interview: In Person Normal questions asked about experience with PowerBI, Tableau and Python. Seemed like a great place to work, however got a better offer.

Screening call then CoderPad for an hour. The interviewer kept nudging when you got stuck on the SQL, appreciated that. Then an in-person day with 4 sessions, they gave a mini case about using data to improve a process.

Quick call on CoderPad 2 problems in 35 min. onsite had 2 more coding rounds plus behavioral. One coding round was their new AI-assisted format with a chat sidebar and multiple files, very different from a normal interview but still didn't pass.

25 min cognitive assessment then pre-recorded video then technical phone screen then a brutal 4 hour final stage with 90 min coding and behavioral with senior managers long day.

Aptitude test first, 15 questions. Then a Zoom with 5 to 6 behavioral questions about past projects and SQL. Heard back less than a week later with a no.

Smart interview recording then team interview. Behavioral and logical stuff. got the call a few days later.

Group interview format, about 7 of us. Got cut after round 2 no feedback

Tell me about yourself, availability and past experience. Had the offer within a week and a half.

They dug deep into my past projects and specific design decisions. HR call first then the technical round.Some REST api questions too. Process felt organized and communication was good, just didn't make the cut

SQL and Python experience mattered a lot. Technical first with accounting and portfolio attribution, then behavioral qs later on.

The case was about a healthcare org consolidating databases after a merger. Had to think through data quality and migration priorities. Behavioral part was first but the case was the real test. They kept pushing on how I'd get teams to agree on standards. No feedback after rejection

Very friendly vibe but still got rejected. Panel with three people, all behavioral.

No coding at all. Recruiter call, project discussion, culture round. Rejected, said they wanted a specific background

Communication during the process was inconsistent, had to follow up a couple times to get status updates. HackerRank assessment then an interview about past projects. The project discussion was interesting at least, they had good questions about my methodology.

Data role covered JavaScript basics for some reason. HR interview first, then a technical screen. SQL manipulation questions too. Behavioral and personality stuff in HR. Communication from the recruiter was delayed a couple times.

They asked about security and compliance risk in my recommendation for the case, wasn't ready for that. Behavioral first then a case about a government agency migrating to cloud.

Easiest interview I've done at a bank, pre-recorded video and then a teams call where the manager just chatted with me about my resume for 30 min.

SQL questions about policy data aggregation and a short case focused on tracking metrics for claims processing efficiency. Technical interview was with two analysts. Python came up but wasn't the focus.

One Zoom round with two interviewers, just behavioral stuff questions. Described a time with a large dataset and heard nothing after for weeks.

They really wanted to know what I knew about recent immigration targets and policy changes dumb for a co-op if u ask me. Behavioral interview about my data background and an example of using data to influence a decision. Competitive pool for this one

Group interview with 4 candidates and 3 supervisors watching. Scenario about structuring a community event. Then a 1 on 1 with a manager. Culture fit was easily 50 to 60% of what mattered.
