Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) Interview Experiences

Virtual assessment first then a real interview with the hiring manager. They asked me about my projects and had me walk through a system design problem where I had to structure the whole approach myself. The interviewer expected you to drive the conversation the entire time. There was a behavioral part too but the technical was the main focus.

STAR behavioral, time you took a risk led a team balanced multiple commitments. covered resume projects but no technical questoins was mostly conversational and background check took a while after.

Fast process like 10 days total. nothing more to say except know about the company and their values

Had a Hirevue with like 8 questions, a lot of stress, then three 30 minute interviews in a row so you need a bunch of different stories ready. They asked what I knew about CIBC in the news too so do your research beforehand.

Recruiter screen then a 30 min interview. Didn't get it two days later.

Just had the interview yesterday. Phone screen was quick 15 min then technical round with questions about SQL and what software I've used before and to describe a project. Behavioral with my interviewer was about handling difficult situations and what motivates me and I had to describe myself in three words which I always find awkward. Fingers crossed.

Literally just a conversation between the manager and me they just asked some questions about school then kinda went silent and expected me to lead the conversation was unique and had a good time make sure you're prepared to ask lots of questions.

They weighted communication skills heavily. Recruiter reached out, screen then a panel with two project managers. Behavioral questions, Jira experience, how I maage timelines when requirements shift, a time a project went sideways. Nothing too intense.

Did the one way video first with like 9 questions and you get 3 tries to re-record each one then had a 30 min teams call with one of the senior devs who just went into my resume and teamwork scenarios.
